Well, at least not in automated distribution. In a semi-automated system you might need more conveyor true, but when we are talking automation, conveyor is a necessary evil. I mean after all it only functions to move a product.

For an automated system to work (not even work efficiently, just work) you need both Software and Hardware. And more importantly they have to play well with one another. They should work to complement each other; the whole should be greater than the sum of its parts.
