Storage and Retrieval Machines for Automated Distribution

In this automated distribution center designed by SSI Schaefer, the totes filled with products are directly stored in the storage system mini-load (SMC) or the Schaefer Carousel System (SCS). In the mini-load the totes are stored double deep in eight aisles.

Eight storage and retrieval machines (SRMs) ensure the smooth processing of storage and retrieval movements as well as transport movements to the picking stations. Next to the mini-load 2 SCS modules with its 13 levels, add another 8,000 highly dynamic tote storage positions.

For more information download the Storage and Retrieval Machines brochure and the Schaefer mini-load brochure here.

The Automated Systems Division of SSI Schaefer US is headquartered in Charlotte, NC.

These system designs appear to be cutting edge. I like what I see and would enjoy a closer look.
